As part of my volunteer work with Ladies Let’s Talk in Austin, I had the privilege of connecting with wonderful women new to the United States. Once or twice a week over Zoom, I helped them not only improve their English but also feel more comfortable and welcomed in their new community. We’d talk about everyday phrases and American expressions so they could start using them confidently. It was all about making them feel at home.

 

In addition, I helped organize a fundraiser and managed social media for a couple of months to spread the word and engage more volunteers. It’s been incredibly fulfilling to be part of a team that empowers others through language and community support.
